- Cellular Phones (mobiles) are extensively used in Turkey.
The region has a perfect GSM coverage. There are currently two GSM operators in Turkey: TURKCELL and TELSIM
.
- The weather forecast for Antalya for the IOI'99 days says
that it will be a clear (and sunny) period. But we are also warned that this is a very
early forecast and it may be subject to changes. If it is a clear day the temperature will
be around 21-23 C degrees. If we have rain then it is around 13-15 C.
- Just for your information, (we will pick you up
any way) the distance from the airport to Sirene resort is 25kms. The taxi price from
airport->Sirene is 35 USD.
- Turkish currency is "Lira" (the
abbreviation is "TL").
465000 TL = 1 USD (approx.)
250000 TL = 1 DM (approx.)
There are banks and exchange offices scattered all over the city. You DO
NOT pay a constant commission for exchange. There is a very small difference (about %0.5)
between the BUY/SELL rate. The hotel also provides exchange facility.
- VISA and MASTER CARD are very common. DINNERS CLUB and
AMERICAN EXPRESS are much rare. Except for gasoline, credit card payments are
commission free.
- There will be no "formal" dinners where some
dress code is required.
- The main electricity is 220 Volts. The plug-in used, is the
European (DIN) standard (those that you find in Germany, Italy).
- The most common spoken foreign language is English. People
in the street are very friendly and helpful, so you may easily approach them with a
question without any hesitation.
