Workshop on Future Competition Environments

The competition format of the IOI's is being widely debated. There is a wide spread feeling that the competition has to undergo a "renovation". The purpose is to keep the IOI technologically relevant, interesting and up-to-date without sacrificing its scientific and challenging character. The questions that can be considered are
  • What programming languages and environments should be allowed?
  • What kinds of tasks can we set other than the ones that have been tried?
During IOI'99 in Antalya a period of time has been set aside to discuss these and related issues. Contributions from all IOI participants are sought. To have a focused and fruitful discussion within the limited available time written contributions are particularly encouraged. Position statements, experience reports, written opinions, etc. can be submitted to the IOI'99 organization. These will be made public through the IOI'99 web site so that the participants will have time to study them before the workshop.
